Each year since its inception, the number of Xap applications submitted online has increased. Over 500,000 applications were submitted through Xap sites in 2001. Xap electronic applications provide the following features and benefits: In-Depth Automatic Data Check Only Xap electronic applications contain in-depth data checks, including multiple-field checks to ensure the elimination of inconsistencies, errors and omissions. In-depth data check is critical in the use of a total electronic process, allowing automatic upload of application data into student information systems without manual data entry or additional checking. Xap's Electronic Applications are Customized for Each College and University With custom applications, students submit all the information a college or university expects and a college or university receives exactly what they require for student admission. Online Admission Application Processing with the Control Center Xap makes it convenient for colleges and universities to process their electronic applications. In addition to its management capabilities, the Control Center offers a complete suite of solutions for processing and downloading application data. These powerful yet easy-to-use tools can be used to create, manage, and download submitted data in any order, using any delimiter, and in such a large variety of formats that nearly any desired record layout can be created. With the power of these tools, an institution can independently create and control up to 30 combinations of record layouts to map into whatever application or Student Information System (SIS) they desire. Intended to provide institutions with complete and immediate control over their data, the Control Center is designed to accommodate institutions with different needs and resources, from small institutions using the Print Wizard to create simple printouts of application data to large institutions using the Export Wizard to create specific data formats for their mainframe SIS systems. An institution also will have access to various supporting data files through the institution's secure, private, password-protected web interface. The institution has access to the following batch/data files: Admission Applications - Contains all of the application data that was received Submission Reports - Provides a convenient summary of all applicants contained in the batch files Fee Reports - Contains fee payment information, which can be reconciled into monthly reports Prospect Search - Contains contact and academic information for students who expressed an interest in your institution or who started, but have not completed, an application In addition, Xap's Control Center allows each institution to manage the application process in real-time. Protected by user identification and password, the institution has the ability to open and close majors or terms. Moreover, this is all available online, meaning there is no additional software to install. Multiple Payment Options With a Xap electronic application, the student has three payment options to pay the university application fee including: Check (sent directly to the campus) Credit Card (secure payment made directly to the institution's merchant account utilizing VeriSign for processing) Fee Waiver (at the institution's option) Security Xap is responsible for data storage, data security, electronic data interchange, communication security, data backup, and disaster recovery of all application data. Xap's data center utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and software to maintain high levels of security including user identification and password protection to assure that only authorized users see data. Confidential data is encrypted and sent from the user's browser to Xap's server via Secure Socket Layer encryption. Xap's server architecture has high levels of redundancy to prevent data loss from single point hardware and software failures. Customer Support Xap offers an 800-customer support number as well as e-mail support to answer all questions related to an institution's electronic application.
